Melody Denny serves as the Director of the WORD Studio and Peer Tutoring. She regularly teaches PCA/EDUC 225: Peer Mentoring in Rhetoric and Communication. Occassionally, she teaches a class in AI and writing.

Alin (Student Assistant Director)

Alin (she/her) is a Finance major from Koper, Slovenia. She enjoys tutoring because she loves connecting with others and helping them find confidence in their skills. Alin has a deep appreciation for different cultures and backgrounds, which inspires her curiosity and open-mindedness. She loves to travel and learn from new experiences around the world. She also enjoys spending time at home by the beach and practicing kickboxing.

Ana (she/her) is a double major in English and Spanish studies, with a minor in Education Studies. In my free time, I enjoy running, golfing, grabbing coffee with friends, and watching the Buffalo Bills (Go Bills!). On campus, I am also a member of Kappa Delta Sigma. My goals as a tutor are to help students build confidence in their writing and to show them how to embrace its uncertainty, so they can enjoy writing as much as I do.

Ananda (Student Assistant Director)

Ananda is studying abroad in Germany in Fall 2026. 

Ananda is an International Economics - Multilanguage combined major with minors in Political Science and History. As a tutor, she aims to help students develop their writing skills and voice, and thinks all students can benefit from the peer support provided by the WORD studio. She enjoys playing hockey and tennis, reading, and learning languages.

Ella (She/her) is a double major in Environmental Studies and Political Science, with minors in African Studies and Outdoor Leadership. As a tutor, she hopes to empower her peers to feel more confident in their communication skills. Ella is also passionate about helping others to find their personal voice in the world of academic writing and speaking. Outside of the WORD Studio, she is part of the Campus Kitchens Project and is a Hadwen Guide for the SLU Outdoor Program. 

Kaileigh

Kaileigh (she/her) is a double major in Communications and Business in the Liberal Arts with a minor in Sport Study and Exercise Science. In her free time, she can usually be found spending time with friends, skiing, or carefully crafting playlists on Spotify. Kaileigh prioritizes her peer relationship with those she tutors, gaining just as much out of a session herself as her peers take away. As a tutor, Kaileigh hopes to empower those she tutors to be confident and expressive in their writing.

Lauryn (She/Her) is a Biomedical Sciences major with a minor in History. As a tutor, she aims to help her classmates become more confident and effective writers and speakers. She has made it her goal for students to leave the WORD Studio feeling better than when they came in. In her free time, you can find Lauryn outside reading, at a concert, or spending time with her friends.

Lilli (she/her) is majoring in Political Science and minoring in Sociology and African Studies. On campus, she resides in the Low Impact Living Greenhouse. She also works in the SLU Costume Shop as a Costume Technician! Her favorite things to do are to spend time with friends, go hiking, listen to music, and sleep! Her primary goal as a tutor is to make her peers feel more comfortable and confident when asking the WORD Studio for help. Lilli empowers students by meeting them where they are and adapting her tutoring strategies to their individual learning preferences. She especially prioritizes maintaining a nonjudgemental, inclusive space for all people to feel welcomed and supported during her sessions.

Lola (she/her) is a double major in English and Sociology with a minor in Education Studies. She enjoys peer tutoring because of the chance to empower others in their writing and voice, opportunities to connect, and not only teaching or guiding peers, but learning from them as well. Lola appreciates the collaborative environment in the WORD studio between staff, tutors, and the students who come into each session. In her free time, she enjoys working out, spending time with friends, and searching for new adventures or opportunities!

MinhAnh (she/her) is a double major in Finance and Computer Science from Vietnam. Having spent two years studying in eSwatini and taking a gap year traveling before starting college, she developed an interest in promoting diversity and fostering intercultural communication. MinhAnh hopes to be a companion to her peers, especially non-native English speakers, on their writing journey, encouraging them to confidently express and explore themselves. Outside of academics, she delights in traveling, uncovering new corners of cities to find the perfect cup of coffee, and listening to new acquaintances' stories.

Phoebe (she/her) is a Data Science major with a minor in Educational Studies. When she’s not at the WORD Studio, she enjoys canoeing, baking, listening to music, and obsessing over niche statistics. She hopes that working at the WORD Studio will bring more writing and reading into her usually STEM-focused days and will allow her to minimize her peers’ assignment stress. Her tutoring goal is to make every student she helps feel more confident in their own skills and see writing as a joy, rather than a stressor.

Sam is a Global Studies and Multi-Language double major from Burlington, Vermont. He is a member of the crew team here at St. Lawrence, and in his free time enjoys mountain biking, sailing, and Nordic skiing. He hopes to make tutoring a two-way street of learning, where he learns as much as he teaches.

Sunset (she/they) is a Biology and English double major. They are very excited to share in the creative process with others and hope to help her peers grow into more confident writers while at the WORD Studio. An avid writer, she hopes to share her own experiences and learn from those of others. In her free time, they enjoy reading, listening to music, going on nature walks, and playing Team Fortress 2.

Tuana (she/her) is a Data Science and Sociology major, with a minor in Arabic Studies. She is originally from Bursa, Turkey but also studied in Tanzania for two years. She spends most of her time serving in various student organizations such as Thelmothesian Society, Common Ground Connections, and Islamic Culture Club. She enjoys learning new languages, reading, and baking with her friends. She hopes to empower students, especially non-native English speakers, to communicate confidently by becoming a tutor at WORD Studio. She is excited to work with everyone and to welcome students with her big smile!
