Writing Workshops
The WORD Studio offers a range of writing workshops specifically designed to support faculty and students. These interactive sessions cover crucial writing skills like APA, MLA, and Chicago formatting, source integration, outlining strategies, and even working with AI writing tools (GenAI). See a list of our workshops and links to slides from previous workshops.
Workshops are limited to one per faculty member per semester and require a simple online form submission two weeks in advance.
WORD Studio Policy on GenAI
In the WORD Studio, we believe communication, learning, and learning to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, are processes, and students require feedback from readers, listeners, and professors to reach their full potential. Though artificial intelligence (AI) tools are rapidly evolving to generate text and feedback, we hold firm in the knowledge that one-to-one dialogue, like that provided in the WORD Studio, is a valuable way to cognitively model elements of the communication and learning process.
However, the WORD Studio recognizes that GenAI is already a part of our daily lives and that students will use these tools in their classes and assignments. Because of this reality, the WORD Studio is ready to work with students and GenAI in a variety of ways to assist students in their journey to becoming better communicators and learners.
