This course examines the problem of maintaining biological diversity in a changing world. Emphasis is on the biological concepts involved in population biology, genetics and community ecology, and their use in conservation and management of biodiversity. Labs mix local projects and trips to sites of interest for conservation.

    • Native American Ethnobotany database - A database of foods, drugs, dyes and fibers of Native American Peoples, derived from plants.
    • Dr. Duke's Phytochemical and Ethnobotanical Databases - From the USDA.  Facilitates in-depth plant, chemical, bioactivity, and ethnobotany searches using scientific or common names. Search results can be downloaded in PDF or spreadsheet form. Of interest to pharmaceutical, nutritional, and biomedical research, as well alternative therapies and herbal products.

    • SLU Libraries Catalog - Click on the Catalog tab and use the dropdown menu to indicate whether you want to search by title, author, keyword or subject.
    • WorldCat - WorldCat is the world's largest network of library content and services.  If the SLU libraries don't have a book you need, WorldCat is an excellent place to search and place an interlibrary loan request with just a couple of clicks.
