This collection contains the correspondence of Columbus Huntly while he was serving in the Union Army during the Civil War. The letters discuss a variety of topics, from camp life and the progress of the war to Columbus’ military payments and the problems that may arise at home in Columbus’ absence.

The collection consists of files related to the administration of Community Energy Services (expense reports, financial statements, insurance & IRS files, board minutes & reports, etc.) and files related to the various projects spearheaded by the agency. Also included are CDs of photographs, DVDs, videotapes and audio tapes of events, posters and other oversized material.

This collection consists of approximately 3,000 postcards from the 1890’s through the 1950’s depicting scenes in the Adirondack Mountains region of New York State. It contains postcards by the major postcard publishers of the time as well as by significant known and unknown Adirondack photographers. It is especially strong in its images of geographical locations, and hotels. Approximately 30-40% of the cards have been posted containing messages of all kinds.

This small collection was donated to the university by Dr. Robert Shaw. Shaw wrote a history of the Comstock Patent Medicine Company of Morristown, New York. The collection consists of a copy of Dr. Shaw’s history, four metal printing plates used to print labels for the medicines, and a small container of pills sold by a competitor of the Comstock company.

The collection consists of genealogies of the families of Heuvelton, New York. Families which are included; Adrain, Allen, Backus, Blood, Breckenridge, Chaffee, Dexter, Dollar, Fifield, Fletcher, Giffin, Gray, Greeley, Hayden, Heuvel, Howard, Hudson-Bell, Hulett, Hutchinson, Johnson, Mayne, Partridge, Pickens, Remington, Ross, Ruddocks, Scott, Sheppard, Smithers, Snyder, Spooner, Thurston, Todd, and Woods. Individual genealogies included are: George Seaman, Captain William Ely Waffle, and Captain Bela Bell.

The Cranberry Lake collection consists of notes and files of an historical nature on a number of different subjects related to the Cranberry Lake area compiled by Canton writer and publisher Atwood Manley.

This collection consists of 62 original letters, most of which have typed transcripts.  The letters date from 1862 through 1867.  Most letters are written to/from Julius, Marcus, or Matilda Crossman. These letters discuss the state of camp life, how the soldiers are fairing, hopes for when the brothers plan on returning home, and the state of home life for Matilda.

Cuneiform is one of the earliest forms of writing, appearing in the Middle East around 3000 BCE. Symbols were impressed into clay tablets using a stylus. Many forms of cuneiform were developed by a number of cultures over approximately three millennia, until other forms of writing came into use.

Current, The Journal of North Country Action was founded in 1985 as an outgrowth of local dissatisfaction with the bias, low quality and frequent irrelevance of press coverage on issues of critical importance to Residents of New York State’s North Country. Conceived under the umbrella of a progressive coalition group, Current has evolved into an independent, non-profit publishing cooperative dedicated to providing commercial-free, reader-supported regional news and commentary on a bi-monthly basis.

The collection consists of correspondence between Lelon and Betsey from 1873 to 1881.
