This collection is made up of the diaries of Merrill L. Howard of Pierrepont, N.Y. It contains two diaries written by Mr. Howard, one in 1868 and one in 1875.
Collection Overview
Mr. Howard appears to have been a farmer as there are several entries which are related to farm chores. There are also entries which indicate that he was engaged in logging. Each entry begins with a description of the weather and is followed by his activities for the day.
The diaries are an excellent source of information about daily life in St. Lawrence County during the latter half of the nineteenth century.
St. Lawrence University does not own the literary rights to this collection.
