Ella (she/her) is a Biomedical Science major, with a Psychology minor. She is apart of the Swim team as well as other organizations on campus like Planned Parenthood and Singing Sinners. In her free time she loves to go on walks, attend concerts and hang out with friends. After her time at SLU, she hopes to continue her education and become a Physician Assistant. She is excited to work with other students as a peer tutor to help others feel understood and succeed!

Madeleine (she/her) is an Economics and Political Science double major from Toronto, Canada. She is a member of the squash team and enjoys traveling, snowboarding, spending time with friends and participating in campus organizations. She is excited to support her peers and help them become more confident learners.

Carly is a Chemistry major from Buffalo, New York. Go Bills! She is a member of the cross country and track and field team at St. Lawrence, and when not running or studying she likes to play card games, watch sitcoms and hang out with her dog, Samson. She enjoys helping students navigate through harder courses and hopes to help them succeed to the best of her ability.

Kaileigh (she/her) is a double major in Communications and Business in the Liberal Arts with a minor in Sport Study and Exercise Science. In her free time, she can usually be found spending time with friends, skiing, or carefully crafting playlists on Spotify. Kaileigh prioritizes her peer relationship with those she tutors, gaining just as much out of a session herself as her peers take away. As a tutor, Kaileigh hopes to empower those she tutors to be confident and expressive in their writing.

Alin (she/her) is a Finance major from Koper, Slovenia. She enjoys tutoring because she loves connecting with others and helping them find confidence in their skills. Alin has a deep appreciation for different cultures and backgrounds, which inspires her curiosity and open-mindedness. She loves to travel and learn from new experiences around the world. She also enjoys spending time at home by the beach and practicing kickboxing.

Phoebe (she/her) is a Data Science major with a minor in Educational Studies. When she’s not at the WORD Studio, she enjoys canoeing, baking, listening to music, and obsessing over niche statistics. She hopes that working at the WORD Studio will bring more writing and reading into her usually STEM-focused days and will allow her to minimize her peers’ assignment stress. Her tutoring goal is to make every student she helps feel more confident in their own skills and see writing as a joy, rather than a stressor.

Sylvie (she/her) is a Creative Writing major with a passion for learning in general. Through tutoring at the WORD Studio, she hopes to work with people to find their unique voice and build confidence in using it. She believes that every voice is important and that anyone can become a great writer! Sylvie enjoys reading, writing, baking yummy desserts, and encountering new perspectives on life.

Alexis (she/her) is an English major with a minor in Communications. She specializes in creative nonfiction and loves to read other students’ creative work. Her main objective as a tutor is to help students revise effectively, increase their confidence, and embrace their unique writerly voices. Apart from the WORD Studio, Alexis can be found assisting patrons at the ODY Help Desk, reading student submissions for the Laurentian Magazine and the St. Lawrence Review, and brainstorming ideas for future stories. 

Owen (he/him) is a Chemistry major and Math minor from Guilderland, NY. He is passionate about both learning and teaching and hopes to continue to do both throughout his life. Owen started tutoring to help others succeed in courses they found difficult. Outside of being a tutor, Owen is the President of the Club Soccer team on campus and Theme House Coordinator for the Habitat for Humanity Theme House. In his free time, he likes to play guitar, stay active, play games, and spend time with friends.

Barrow (she/they) is a sociology major and English + statistics minor with a special focus on humanitarian aid issues such as the prison-industrial complex and the criminalization of sexuality. Barrow loves reading and writing, playing drums, trail running (slowly), and finding weird bumper stickers. She is excited to connect with other students as a peer tutor, and work together to help make SLU more academically fair and equitable.
