This 300-level seminar for History majors and minors explores how the past is conveyed through written and audio narratives and visual representations. We'll examine historical interpretation in a variety of sources including scholarship, historical fiction, film, graphic narrative, photographs, and podcasts. We'll consider how creators balance evidence and storytelling, and how narrative choices and modes of representation shape meaning. Historical topics will vary across time and place.
