  1. The SLU library collection is 90% virtual, 10% physical.  In other words, you can find ten times more scholarly information on the library website than on the library shelves.
  2. The library has 1 million books and ebooks and 120,000 online journals available for your research.
  3. You can search the whole library collection—digital and physical—using Discovery on the library website.  Discovery is a good starting point for research on almost any topic.  The library also has over 100 other research databases for advanced research on particular subjects.
  4. You can get in-depth, one-on-one research help from a research librarian.  You can go to Research Help on the library website to schedule an appointment, or just come to ODY and ask for help on weekdays.
  5. You can also get help using technology at the IT Help Desk or with papers or presentations at the WORD Studio, both in ODY.
  6. If you find something cited in a research database that the library does not have, we can get it for you through Interlibrary Loan.
  7. The Archives and Special Collections in ODY contain thousands of rare books and documents on the history of the university and the North Country.
  8. You can access the library’s online resources from anywhere in the world.  Just click on the link and enter your SLU username and password.
  9. Ready for a study break?  You can find hundreds of recent bestsellers on the main floor of ODY, check out a green bike for the day, stream a classic film or documentary from the library website, or start your free online subscription to the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, or Washington Post.
  10. It is officially the Owen D. Young Library, but everybody calls it ODY.
