The North Country Research awards have been announced and this year saw prizes go to research on habitat fragmentation in St. Lawrence County, on fair housing issues in St. Lawrence County, and a narrative on discovery, identity, displacement, and a return to belonging. These projects represented very different topics and very different approaches to scholarship, but they are tied together by representing some of the best student-scholarship at St. Lawrence. The winners are:

  • “Reauthoring My Mohawk Identity: An Autoethnography of Cultural Displacement, Return, and Belonging” by Marc Isaacs
  • “Good Cause Eviction Law: A Policy Proposal for Saint Lawrence County” by Cameron Kennedy
  • “Reducing Habitat Fragmentation in St. Lawrence County within the A2A Corridor” by Lauren Trexler and Maggie Layman

The call for the 2027 North Country Research prize will go out next May.
