ODY Library, 24 Hour Study Room
In celebration of Black History Month SLU Libraries present the film Zora Neale Hurston: Claiming a Space. Dr. Adam Harr, Anthropology, will provide an introduction to the work of this remarkable black anthropologist and author and guide an optional discussion afterward.
Zora Neale Hurston has long been considered a literary giant of the Harlem Renaissance, but her anthropological and ethnographic endeavors were equally important and impactful. This is an in-depth biography of the influential author whose groundbreaking anthropological work challenged assumptions about race, gender and cultural superiority that had long defined the field in the 19th century.
Limited performance rights provided by Kanopy in association with PBS.
